The rise in use of drug store weight loss tablets is cause of overwhelming concern for the FDA as rates of drug related deaths continue to climb.

Over the counter fat burners are unfortunately becoming common practice among people of all ages and there is also less separation between the sexes. Continued use of products like these is of a growing concern for family members of the people who abuse them as well as government health agency’s. The reason people are concerned is the use of Ephedrine contained in the formula to make these fat burners. Ephedrine is dangerous because it can cause a spike in heart rate, which will lead to problems with the heart and can sometimes lead to instant death.

A few things being done by concerned citizens to do to curb people from using these pills include coaching for good nutrition habits and education about the on the side effects some of these pills can cause. A hurdle these people face in curbing the consumption includes the fact that it is no longer only a specific group that uses the weight loss pills and it is a problem solely associated with younger women. The government agency’s will have to focus efforts to curb the addiction of these pills, but they have a long road ahead of them to stop this phenomenon.
